About the NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a Commonwealth government initiative that takes a new approach to providing individualised supports for people with permanent and significant disabilities, their families, and carers.
The NDIS has now rolled out in South East Queensland from July 2018, giving you unprecedented control over your disability support funding and designed to help you:
- Build your skills and capability
- Access community services and supports
- Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports
What will it mean for me?
The NDIS has been designed to provide you with more choice and control over your day-to-day activities. You can decide what reasonable and necessary supports you will need to achieve your goals and then receive funding to pay for those supports.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible to participate in the NDIS if you are:
- living with permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities;
- an Australian citizen or permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or the holder of a Protected Special Category Visa; and
- under the age of 65.
