Accredited Training with Horizon Specialised Training

At Myhorizon, our training programs are designed to build confidence, develop practical skills and support your pathway to employment. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow your experience, we offer accessible, supportive learning opportunities tailored to your goals.

Get qualified with our Training Courses

Myhorizon’s registered training organisation – Horizon Specialised Training (RTO Code: 30008) – provides a range of practical and industry recognised training courses where students are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a large disability organisation, based in the Redlands for more than forty years.

From day one, the students have unparalleled access to ‘A day in the life of’ a real world working environment that delivers a suite of services to people with a disability from ages zero to sixty-five.

Our training courses are tailored around the skills you need to meet the demands of today’s employment market and get you ready for the real world. They are simple to follow and you will be supported by a qualified trainer throughout your entire program.

Career Start Program

The Career Start Program is a core initiative funded by the Queensland Government, designed to provide vocational education and training (VET). This program supports individuals in gaining the skills, confidence, and qualifications necessary to secure employment, advance to more skilled positions, or obtain full-time jobs.


General Training Pathway

The Career Start General Training Pathway provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification, through a pre-approved registered training organisation (RTO) of their choice – otherwise known as a Skills Assure Supplier (SAS).

ThroughCareer Start, students can expect to build the skills and confidence needed to complete a qualification and take meaningful steps toward their career goals.


To be eligible to enrol in the Career Start General Training Pathway, prospective students must:

  • be aged 15 years or older
  • not be a school student
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count)
  • not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count)


Horizon Specialised Training is approved to offer the following nationally recognised qualifications under the Queensland Career Start General Training program:

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

Career Start Traineeship Pathway

The Career Start program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees.
The employer of an apprentice/trainee must provide or arrange to provide adequate facilities, range of work, supervision, on-the-job training required by the Act and training plan.
The program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to select their preferred training provider from a list of pre-approved RTO’s, called SAS. Only SAS approved to deliver the student’s chosen qualification and training pathway can provide training and assessment services under Career Start.
To be eligible to receive government subsidised training, the apprentice or trainee must:
  • have entered into a Contract (training contract) for a qualification that is funded by DTET and be registered on DTET’s training database;
  • if from overseas; have a visa allowing them to work in Australia; and
  • not have already completed two apprenticeship/traineeship qualifications (including SATs) within the last 10 years

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Career Boost

Career Boost helps Queenslanders to level-up at work, enabling them to grow and apply their skills to existing or new roles, and support productivity growth and workplace innovation.
The program delivers training to help individuals develop the higher-level skills needed to secure employment, advance their careers, or progress to further education and training.
The Career Boost program provides access to either:
  • One funded training place in either certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma qualifications under the general training pathway
or
  • a higher-level apprenticeship or traineeship in certificate IV or above.

General Training Pathway

To be eligible, you must:
  • be aged 15 years or older, and no longer in school
  • permanently live in Queensland
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with an eligible visa subclass
  • not already have a certificate IV or higher qualification (including tertiary qualifications) completed within the last 10 years* (qualifications completed as a school student, and foundation skills qualifications don’t count)
  • not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it’s on hold or deferred, whether funded by us (Department of Trade, Employment and Training) or not (foundation skills qualification don’t count).
Horizon Specialised Training are approved to offer the following nationally recognised qualifications under the Career Boost program:
  • CHCSS00133 Introduction to Disability Skill set
